Kicks for Kids

posted Feb 2, 2013, 9:25 PM by SCOR Admin

“Kicks for Kids” will be selling donated equipment  for $5 during the last 2 weeks of camp. All money raised will go toward the Droge Scholarship Fund that subsidizes player fees for SCOR families that could use some help. SCOR has never turned away a family that wanted to play soccer – but couldn’t afford to do it.

There are over 40 pairs of shoes available.

Message from SCOR President

posted Dec 20, 2012, 11:12 AM by SCOR Admin

Hello SCOR Families!

I hope you’ve all enjoyed the break over the last 6 weeks. It’s hard to believe that we start back up once we return to school after Christmas Vacation. I realize everyone’s time is short and valuable – but please allow a couple minutes to get through this email. There are some very important things I’d like to cover and will do my best to be brief.

1)    The SCOR Winter Soccer Camp starts Saturday, January 12th. Please click Winter Camp Dates to find your player’s time. SCOR Winter Camp is not mandatory, but strongly encouraged. This is a great way for the team to work together before the spring season. The players will spend the 1st half working on technical and tactical skills and the 2nd half of each practice in a scrimmage, putting to use what they learned or worked on that day.
2)       We need your help on the SCOR board and have a few positions open. SCOR Board Members receive player discounts for volunteering their time to SCOR. This club doesn’t run without your help and we have several opportunities for you to serve the children… the players in this club. Please call or email – myself or Pat for more information. We have the opportunities listed below. Kevin Butler – 635-3600. Pat Dalton – 292-5694
3)       “Kicks for Kids” is a fundraising event I’d like help organizing during the SCOR Winter Camp. We all have soccer shoes and other equipment that is outgrown – but otherwise is in good enough shape for someone else to use. I could use 2-3 people willing to help collect and sort equipment and help re-sell it the last 2 weeks of camp. “Kicks for Kids” will take your donated equipment and make them available for sale for $5 during the last 2 weeks of camp. All money raised will go toward the Droge Scholarship Fund that subsidizes player fees for SCOR families that could use some help. We’ve never turned away a family that wanted to play soccer – but couldn’t afford to do it.

I hope everyone has a great Christmas with their family. We will have a reminder email for SCOR Camp right after the New Year. Please consider volunteering for SCOR and let us know if you have interest or know of someone that would do a great job filling a need.

Support SCOR Teams in Canton

posted May 24, 2012, 2:28 PM by SCOR Admin

SCOR Family,

I'd like to wish everyone good luck this weekend at the Canton Cup. I hope you have a great time and a lot of success on the field. Steve Manett put together a schedule of all our SCOR Teams this weekend on an easy to read spreadsheet which can be found here (click this link). If you are in between games, it would be great to have your support for your fellow teams and for the club during our tournament play. Please remember to pack a lot of water for your family and for your player. It is supposed to be very hot and we want to keep everyone hydrated and healthy.

Sincerely,

Kevin Butler
SCOR President

SCOR ’02 Black Girls Win Crew Cup

posted May 19, 2012, 6:31 AM by SCOR Admin

The SCOR ’02 Black team won their division (U11 2nd) at the Grand Rapids Crew Cup, held the weekend of April 13-15. The championship game – tied 1-1 at the end of the second half – ended in a nail-biting finish, going into two overtimes and a shootout to determine the winner. While the Muskegon Lakers proved a worthy opponent, Coach Pat Dalton’s girls triumphed, winning 3-2. “It’s really remarkable when you consider that these girls are playing ‘up’ against girls at least a year older than them,” stated assistant coach, Emilee Long.
