Woody Korte joined the SCOR coaching staff in 2012, where he has brought his years of playing experience and coaching knowledge to his teams. Woody played through high school before joining the Dutchman of Hope College where he finished his soccer career. The time he spent playing soccer had a positive influence on his life. It’s this influence that drives his passion for coaching now. When asked why coaching is important to him, Woody said “I love having a positive impact on the players and their families”. Woody lives in Rockford with his wife and kids, and leads a company that installs network cabling. How does Woody enjoy his down time? “What down time? I have four kids, so it’s typically spent getting them to hockey, soccer, volleyball, waterpolo…” I think most of us can relate! An accomplishment Woody is particularly proud of is developing a u8 team he had. In the fall season, the team didn’t win a single game. Woody was focused on developing talent and teaching the players skills - not manipulating the game... trusting it would produce results the right way. It certainly did! That spring season, the same u8 team went undefeated in the top division and put all that skill and hard work on display on the field. It is a great testimony to proper development!
We’re thankful to have Woody as part of our SCOR coaching staff! Great job, coach!
