Amira Ponne lives in Rockford and has been coaching for SCOR since 2014, and has been coaching since 1997 including being the Varsity coach for Rockford High School, where she won Districts and Coach of the Year in 2009. Coach Amira loves sharing her passion of her favorite sport with her kids and the relationship she’s been able to build along the way. When asked why she coaches, Amira said “I coach to share my positivity and knowledge of a game I have been playing my whole life. Watching these kids develop their game, grow form their mistakes, experience pride in themselves and their team keeps me doing this year after year.” Something interesting about Amira, is that she’s been playing soccer since the 2nd grade, but played on all boys teams until she was a freshman in high school. After playing through high school, Coach Amira when on to graduate from Aquinas College where she was a 4 year starter and 3 year captain of the Saints.
If she’s not on the field working with her young aspiring players, Amira loves reading, spending time with her family, traveling, and staying fit. Amira says “The motto I live by is "Attitude is Everything” and I do my best to model this to my students and players every day.”
